Huskies report: Inside slant
The Huskies play their third straight midweek game when they travel to Kent State. The last two midweek games led to frustrating losses. The defense allowed 78 points in losses to Ball State and Central Michigan to spoil the momentum from a three-game winning streak. The Golden Flashes, though, lack the offensive punch the Cardinals and Chippewas possess. The NIU defense saw its stellar numbers take a hit with consecutive losses. Ball State quarterback Nate Davis and CMU quarterback Dan LeFevour torched the Huskie defense, which enters the KSU contest allowing 18.7 points a game. The defense must contain another explosive threat this week. Kent State quarterback Julian Edelman is a dual-threat, leading the Golden Flashes in rushing, passing, total offense and scoring. The Golden Flashes ended a two-game skid with a 41-38 triumph over Temple to improve to 3-7 on the season. The Huskies must keep their slim bowl hopes alive with victories over Kent State and Navy. The 5-5 Huskies have played a competitive schedule and dealt with injuries to key players. Copyright (C) 2008 The Sports Xchange. All Rights Reserved. |
